VAN HALEN: 2012 Tour

Attention Fans!!

One of the biggest names in modern music history, Van Halen, is back and touring across Canada. If you aren't familiar with these legends of rock, here is a brief history of the band.

The band was formed by brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen in 1972 in their American home town of Pasadena, California. Van Halen had humble beginnings, playing backyard parties for friends in high school. As their momentum grew, they began playing the rock n' roll hot spots throughout Los Angeles, including the famed Whiskey A-Go-Go Club. In 1978 the band was approached by record executives Mo Ostin and Ted Templeman of Warner Brothers Records, who quickly offered them a recording contract. The record that followed would become one of the best selling debut albums of a rock band in US history.

In 1978 Van Halen released their self-titled debut. Since its release, the record has sold over 10 million copies in the US. Van Halen is one of only 5 rock bands that have reached diamond status (10 million copies sold) twice. Their second diamond record, 1984, featured their only Billboard number 1 single, Jump. These two records, combined with the commercial success of their 10 other studio albums, helped catapult Van Halen to number 19 on the list of top selling artists/bands in american history.

The new tour, which kicks off on the 18th of February in Louisville, Kentucky, features 7 Canadian dates. The dates are as follows... If you're interested in checking out one of these shows, don't forget to check FanXchange.com for the best Van Halen ticket inventory!

BCS Title Game: LSU vs. Alabama

Tonight is the final culmination of another long BCS Bowl Season. 34 of the 35 bowl games have already been played, and it is time to crown the National Champion. Alabama, LSU, two Southeastern Conference powerhouses that have already met earlier in the season. The game back on November 5th was touted as the game of the century, but failed to live up to expectations when LSU edged out Bama 9-6 in overtime.

Both sports writers and fans had mixed feelings about the selection of the two championship contenders. Should Bama be given a shot at the National Title if they failed to make it to the finals of their conference tournament? It is just another question that the BCS system just can't answer. All in all, the BCS Championship game should be played between the 2 best football programs in the country. This seems to be the best fit, and tonight these two teams will stop at nothing to prove they are the best in the country!
