Thriller Anniversary!

Hello Fans!

Today we are here to celebrate a truly MOMENTOUS occasion in musical history. On this day back in 1982, a young performer by the name of Michael Jackson released his 6th studio album entitled Thriller.

Now, we will assume that most of you are familiar with the legendary CD, but if not, here is a brief recap of how Thriller had such a lasting impact on both musical and pop culture. Jackson started recording Thriller in a transitional period of his life. Having just hired a new manager John Branca, Jackson was eager to become "the biggest star in show business".

Michael set out to accomplish this goal, and it didn't take long. Thriller became one of the hottest records of the year in 1983. Seven of the nine songs on the album were released as singles, and every single one of them reached the Billboard Top Ten. The album, Thriller, received amazing critical acclaim for both the album, and for creating the first promotional music video. In fact, the music video for Thriller has been archived at the United States Library of Congress because it held "cultural significance". Since then, Thriller has gone on to become the highest selling album of all time!

Although the King of Pop passed away in June, 2009, his legacy lives on. For instance, Cirque du Soleil has recently introduced a new show, called Cirque du Soleil: Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour, featuring a long list of Michael Jackson's best work! The show has been on tour since early October, but is coming back to Canada in March! Be sure to check out the FanX Inventory Here.

For your viewing pleasure, we have also posted a couple of videos inspired by the Cirque Show, and other classics by Mr. Jackson himself!

And last but not least, the famed viral video of prison inmates rehearsing their version of Thriller!
