Hey Fans,
From May 6-8, 2010 Team FanXchange staff members will be participating in the Scotiabank Pro-Am Hockey Tournament. This tournament raises funds to help support research and care in Alzheimer's and related disorders. FanXchange is an opportunistic company that loves to give back to the community. We have taken the opportunity of sponsoring a team for this event in hopes of contributing significantly to the cause.
The tournament provides an opportunity for hockey enthusiasts to team up with former NHL greats in the battle against these devastating diseases. Baycrest is an internationally renowned academic health sciences centre with a focus on the aging brain. Therefore, in partnering with such an organization FanXchange realizes the potential of what their contribution will do for those suffering from Alzheimer’s.
FanXchange set the bar high with an initial fundraising goal of $25,000 but as expected, Team FanXchange went above and beyond and is extremely excited to announce that we have raised over $48,000 for this amazing cause.
Tomorrow, the fun begins with draft night, The more money each team raised the higher their draft pick. Each team gets to draft an NHL Alumni based on the order of how they finished in their fundraising efforts. The NHL Alumni player that is drafted will play on our team for the duration of the tournament. Out of 60 teams, FanXchange is looking at a 14th or 15th pick in the draft (meaning FanXchange finished in the top 15 out of 60). Some of the NHL Alumni being drafted include, Doug Gilmour, Wendel Clark, Guy Lafleur, Gary Leeman, Darryl Sittler, and Gary Roberts to name a few.
Team FanXchange begins play on Friday in the actual tournament with the hopes of winning the Gold!
