Steve Nash has led the Phoenix Suns to the Western Conference Finals after a 4-0 sweep of the San Antonio Spurs. The Suns have had much trouble in recent years in the playoffs, but due to the 36 year olds excellent play, the Suns are looking like a contender to win the NBA Championship. They are now looking forward to facing off with the winner of the Lakers vs. Jazz series. With the Lakers up 3-0, it seems as though Nash will be facing off against Kobe and the defending champions in the next round.
While most 36 year olds are on the decline of their NBA careers Steve Nash has continued to step up for his team. In the San Antonio series he led the team with 33 points in Game 1 and continued to outdo his opponents throughout the series. This is an amazing outcome, as the 6 foot 3, 180 lbs. point guard has played in 14 NBA seasons against usually much larger competition. He works as hard as any other player, and usually continues to practice well after team practices conclude. He is a determined guy who wants to bring a championship to Phoenix and will do whatever it takes to get there.
His play is not the only thing that brings attention to the Victoria, British Columbia native. Nash is an exemplary person unlike many other famous athletes, such as Ben Roethlisberger and Tiger Woods. He never gets into any trouble and is the leader of the Suns franchise.
Furthermore, Nash gives back to the community through the Steve Nash Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to helping underprivileged children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life. So to all my Canadian NBA fans this is the guy to cheer for! He is Mr. Canada for basketball and should be the man everyone cheers for in the remainder of the NBA Playoffs.
