I have to ask...who among you can actually say they picked Montreal to beat Washington? That was one of the biggest surprises in hockey history! Habs fans across Canada must be thinking “In Halak We Trust!” While the West features 4 teams seeded 5th or higher, the East surprisingly has only 1 team that finished in the top 4 seeds. I cannot wait to see which underdog continues to pull through the Eastern conference!
#4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #8 Montreal Canadiens:
Montreal was able to beat the Caps, but the Pens bring a team that has had success in the playoffs and are the defending Stanley Cup champions. Pittsburgh boasts a strong offence, including Olympic hero Sidney Crosby, 2009 Conn Smythe winner Evgeni Malkin, and Selke finalist Jordan Staal. They also have a strong set of defensemen, and a much better goaltender than Washington. For Pittsburgh to continue to have success they will have to find a way to score on Halak, and get shots beyond shot blocking expert, Hal Gill.
For Montreal to win they will have to heavily rely on Halak to be amazing once again. They will also need for Cammalleri to continue to score goals like he did in the 1st round. Another weakness for Pittsburgh was their penalty killing, which was 15th among the playoff teams in the 1st round at a paltry 68.2%. Therefore, if the Habs can continue to have success against the penalty killing unit this may be a longer series than we might have though.
Nonetheless, I think that the Cinderella story ends here. Pittsburgh is just too seasoned of a team to make mistakes like the Caps did.
Come check out FanXchange.com for tickets to what promises to be a memorable series!
Prediction: Pittsburgh in 6
#6 Boston Bruins vs. #7 Philadelphia Flyers
Both these teams failed to live up to pre-season expectations during the regular season. Much of it was because of injuries to key players. However, they now have a chance to make up for their regular seasons’ by moving on to the Eastern conference final with a win in this series.
Boston is a team that has surprised many because of Tuuka Rask’s amazing play, and the fact that he supplanted previous Vezina winner, Tim Thomas in Boston’s net. Boston also was able to get through the first round with limited scoring power, as Marc Savard was out for much of the series. We will have to see if he can bounce back in this series and provide a scoring touch.
Philadelphia also surprisingly got some amazing goaltending in the 1st round from Brian Boucher. He led the 1st round in GAA among all goaltenders. This surprised many, as going into the playoffs most thought goaltending was the Flyers’ largest weakness. In order for the Flyers to win this series Mike Richards will need to continue his playoff success along with Chris Pronger, as Gagne and Jeff Carter are nursing injuries. They also need to hope that Boucher can be as good as he was in the New Jersey series.
I really think that this will be an evenly matched series for the most part. If Boston can score I think they will get through the Flyers easily, however that is a big if!
Prediction: Boston in 7

NHL Western Conference Playoffs Preview Round 2:
Well, FanX fans what can I say? I was right in predicting the result for all 4 series in the West in Round 1! So, you have to be wondering what my predictions will be for Round 2? I have to say, that all the winners in Round 1 did not look overly dominant. I really thought that teams like Chicago would have wrapped up their series in 5 games. However, this is the NHL Playoffs and series are hard fought out battles that surprise fans all the time! Nonetheless let’s get down to business...
#1 San Jose Sharks vs. #5 Detroit Red Wings:
Oh boy, this is exactly what the Sharks wanted to avoid until the Conference finals. Detroit is a seasoned veteran team that has been to the last two Stanley Cups. They also won 3 of 4 games versus San Jose in the regular season. This begs the question, can San Jose finally have some success in the playoffs? Detroit will ultimately answer the question, as if the Sharks lose again in the 2nd round the franchise will be looking to blame someone. Nonetheless, let us take a look at how these two teams match up.
The Sharks certainly have the edge in goaltending. Nabokov has been to the playoffs several times, while Jimmy Howard is an inexperienced rookie. On defence I would have to give the nod to the Wings, as Nick Lidstrom along with Brian Rafalski always come up big when it comes to crunch time. The Sharks hope that their defence will not play like they did in the 1st round when they had many gaffes including Dan Boyle’s notorious goal on his own team! In looking at scoring, San Jose will need the trio of Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley, Patrick Marleau to step it up. They struggled immensely in the 1st round and if they do not come up big in this round the Sharks may have some troubles. The Wings’ scoring powers did not disappoint in the 1st round and look forward to racking up goals against a shaky Nabakov.
It is my feeling that if the Sharks can generate enough scoring, they may be able to go on to the next round, however this is a big maybe. Let us hope for San Jose’s management’s sake that they move on to the next round.
Prediction: Sharks in 7
#2 Chicago Blackhawks vs. #3 Vancouver Canucks:
This will be a very exciting series. The Canucks have sought revenge ever since they were bounced by the Hawks in last year’s playoffs. Both teams have improved since last year and there is no doubt in my mind that this series will be one for the ages! I am excited to see the two team’s superstar duos face off against one another. Who will bring their game to the next level, the Sedin twins or Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews?
Chicago has surprised many fans by not rushing through the Preds. They were heavily favoured and looked shaky against the Preds. One of their downfalls was Antii Niemi. He will need to be much more solid in net against Vancouver’s scoring powers. Niemi has a serious problem of letting out too many rebounds and there is no doubt in my mind that pesky scorers like Samuelsson may have a great series if this trend continues. The Blackhawks defenders are in my mind stronger than their Canuck counterparts and will need to be at their best to contain the Sedin twins.
Vancouver ended up beating a young Kings team in six games. It was a great series that showed that the Canucks success depends on the Sedin line. In order for the Canucks to have a chance in this series they will need to have the 2nd line step up. Where have Alex burrows and Ryan Kessler gone. They were great in the regular season and will need to show up against the Hawks. They are primary components to the Canuck’s penalty kill and struggled against LA, having only a 61.5% in killing penalties.
I really am having a hard time deciding a winner in this series because both teams need to win for their fans. Chicago is a team that has the longest Stanley Cup drought in the NHL, and the Canucks franchise is yet to win one. Therefore, in showing my Canadian pride I hope that Bobby-Lu and the Sedin twins come out with a good show.
Prediction: Canucks in 7

Bieber Fever! FanXchange has your Tickets!
Hey Fans,
Did anyone see the madness yesterday in Sydney, Australia. Thousands of Justin Bieber fans camped out awaiting a concert by the 16 year old teen sensation only to be disappointed. The venue opened early to those waiting in line and a rush to get in ensued. The swarming led to several young girls being injured, and ultimately the concert being cancelled leaving thousands angry. Who would have believed that a young kid from our own backyard of Strathroy, Ontario could cause such chaos!
Luckily for all you young Canadian fans FanXchange has you covered. Bieber will be coming to Canada this summer. The Canadian stops include Toronto on August 21, London on August 22, and Ottawa on the 24th.
Come out and show your Canadian pride! Ever since Bieber was discovered through YouTube by his manager Scooter Braun, there has been no stopping him. Braun arranged for Justin to meet with R&B legend Usher, who would be a large influence on the prodigy’s flourishing career, and would sign him later to a record deal. Since then Bieber has had great success rising to the top of the charts with both his 1st album, My World, and his 2nd, My World 2.0.
Obviously, fans have hit a new high with Bieber Fever which nonetheless means tickets have been sold out for weeks! Therefore, FanXchange is your source to get tickets and stop your fever!

The Bills Have a lot of Hills to Climb: Let us begin with tonight’s draft
The Buffalo Bills’ fans are a loyal bunch. The last time the team made the NFL playoffs was the 1999 season. This was the end of a promising decade for the team, in which they made 4 Super Bowls. It was also the end of the team showing any promise at quarterback. The team featured the likes of Jim Kelly and Doug Flutie for most of the decade, but since then have not been able to show any promise at the position. This brings us to tonight’s NFL Draft. Should the Bills use their pick on one of the many promising quarterbacks featured in the draft? Trent Edwards is not a quarterback who can lead the team to the playoffs. Also of note is that the Pittsburgh Steelers have made mention that they are willing to part ways with recently suspended Ben Roethlisberger for the right price. This could be Buffalo’s highly coveted 9th pick in the draft. Given the fact that Roethlisberger will be suspended for up to 6 games this season, this may not be the way for the Bills to have a chance at getting into the playoffs this season.
Alternatively, this year’s draft has several young promising quarterbacks the Bills could select at tonight’s draft. They include: Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen, Tim Tebow, Tony Pike, and Colt McCoy.
Bradford is likely to be taken 1st by the Rams, however Clausen is a very promising young gun who played in a pro style offence at Notre Dame. There are scepticisms about his size, which may lead the Bills to look to scooping up a pick at another position. The Bills have many gaping holes in their roster, so we all might be surprised with who they decide to go with. The draft is deep at many positions, so no doubt whoever they pick will fulfill a need on the team.
Having said this, we are in for a very interesting season for the Bills, and what better way to show your support then to come watch them in Toronto when they play the Chicago Bears at the Rogers Centre on November 7. The Bears will be an exciting team to watch that boasts Jake ‘The Snake” Cutler at QB and a powerhouse defence led by Julius Peppers.

GET YOUR TICKETS CHEAP! THE JAYS ARE YOUNG AND ON THE RISE!
Long gone are the days where the Skydome, (now the Rogers Centre) was packed with over 50,000 Blue Jays’ faithful. We all miss the days of Joe Carter blasting home runs over the left field wall, and Robbie Alomar exciting us with his great defensive ability. In a league where there is no salary cap, the Jays have to deal with the two of the league’s greatest spending powers in the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. The Yankees are spending over $205 million on their 2010 roster, while the Red Sox come in 2nd in the MLB coming in at just over $162 million. What is a team to do when their division rivals spend more in one year than most teams spend over 2 years?
Well...new GM Alex Anthopoulos thinks that we can’t outspend them, so much like Tampa Bay we must develop our farm system and develop young players into future stars. Having said that, the Jays boast a roster that is young and upcoming. We have two young stars in Aaron Hill and Travis Snider. Both players are rapidly becoming presences in the league and will hopefully continue to do so in the future.
The Jays are currently in 3rd in the AL East at 8-6 and have played well for a team playing without Aaron Hill who will continue to be sidelined until Friday when he will make his return against the Tampa Bay Rays. Having said this, why are fans not showing up at the Rogers Centre? Is this purely a hockey town? Just 5 days after setting the stadium’s record for lowest attendance (10,619) the Jays once again plummeted to a new low last night with only 10, 314 fans showing up. I know we are not the Yankees or Red Sox, but come on Torontonians we are the only Canadian team and what better way to show your patriotism than to show up to the ballpark on cheer on Canada’s team! Tickets are really cheap right now and are even going for 50% of face value...so come on down, have a beer and relax while you watch this up and coming young team at the Rogers Centre!

UFC 115: THE FIGHT CONTINUES OUT WEST:
Hey Fans,
On June 12, MMA fans in Vancouver will have a chance to see the Ultimate Fighting Championship for the first time live in their city. Vancouver is only the 2nd Canadian city to host a UFC event following the lead of Montreal. MMA has not yet been sanctioned by the Ontario government, so it does not look likely for Toronto fans to see the action in the near future.
While the event presale began this week, casual fans did not even have a chance to purchase tickets, as all tickets were gone in less than 30 minutes during the pre-sale. It was the fastest sell-out in UFC history, demonstrating the Canadian enthusiasm for this type of combat. The pre-sale included those who are members of the UFC Fight Club, the UFC's official fan club. These members had the chance to put down a $75 deposit to purchase in advance. Lucky for them...now tickets can only be found on the secondary market, including sites like FanXchange.com. While tickets were pre-sold starting at $76 ranging to $601 it is unlikely the general public will find a seat for such low prices. The closer it gets to the event the higher prices will become, so get your tickets now!
The fight is being headlined by the “Iceman” Chuck Liddell who will take on Rich Franklin. The ticket also includes fighters, such as: Mirko Crocop, Paulo Thiago, Tyson Griffin, and Ben Rothwell. Are you salivating already? There is no doubt in our mind that on June 12, General Motors Place will be the place to be!

FanXchange's Western Conference Playoff Preview and Predictions
On to the Wild West Coast we go...
#1 San Jose Sharks vs. #8 Colorado Avalanche
Let us all hope for San Jose’s sake, that the acquisition of Dany Heatley can help them from falling out of the first round as they have in previous years. Hopefully, the three-headed monster of a line in Dany Heatley, Joe Thornton, and Patrick Marleau can provide a scoring touch for a team in dire need of progressing through the Western Conference. This trio was clutch in the Olympics for Team Canada, and hopefully for Sharks fans this can lead to some playoff success.
Alternatively, the Avs come back from a short hiatus from the playoffs sporting a young and hungry team lead by Matt Duchene and Paul Stastny. Clutch goaltending will be a key proponent to the series, as we have seen Nabokov struggle in net for the Sharks during the playoffs. Craig Anderson has been a great pickup for the Avs after signing in the offseason. Anderson comes up big when it counts and may be an X-factor in the series.
Hopefully, the trio of Canadians can bring some excitement to the HP Pavilion. The Pepsi Center is always wild during the playoffs, so get your tickets now at FanXchange.com
Prediction: Sharks in 7
#2 Chicago Blackhawks vs. #7 Nashville Predators
Can the young Hawks take the success of their regular season into the playoffs? The young squad has a ton of scoring power and boasts three great lines. They are a very talented team that has both offence and defence. Furthermore, they boast some of Canada’s greatest contributors in the Olympics: Toews, Keith, and Seabrook. Nashville really lacks the scoring power to keep up with the young Hawks. The only thing that the Preds may rely on is strong goaltending from Pekka Rinne and the blasting shot of Shea Weber.
In the past few years the Hawks have been packing the United Center, and the atmosphere has become raucous! Show your support in Chi-town and the city better known for Country music than hockey.
Prediction: Hawks in 5
#3 Vancouver Canucks vs. #6 Los Angeles Kings
Let’s get back on the bandwagon...For the 1st time since Gretzky left town in the late 1990’s Kings fans are showing up at the Staples Center. Why? Well, they are an exciting young team led by Drew Doughty, who has been compared to among others...Bobby Orr.
The Canucks on the other hand have been in the playoffs recently but have not had much success due to lack of toughness. Hopefully, the Canucks can depend on stellar goaltending from Bobby-Lu and the scoring prowess of the Sedin twins.
The Canucks provide Canada’s best chance at success in these playoffs, so as a patriot I hope that they have some playoff success.
There is no doubt in my mind that GM Place will be rocking again, as it was during the Olympics. Get your tickets now, before they are all gone!
Prediction: Canucks in 6
#4 Phoenix Coyotes vs. #5 Detroit Red Wings
The Wings did not start the season off too well due to a great deal of injuries. However, since the Olympic break the Wings have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL, and are looking to continue their success into the postseason. While they are the lower seed, the Wings look to be the favourite, as the Coyotes have not been in the Playoffs since 2002.
Things are looking up for the Coyotes franchise, as they have a new “lease” on life so to speak. Tickets have been selling at a much greater pace with the team’s success leading into the playoffs. No doubt, those that have not came out to Coyotes games in the past will be there to see the Red Wings who tend to be a popular opponent in the Glendale arena.
Joe Louis Arena in Detroit is Hockeytown USA! This arena is one of the best places to see an NHL game and gets even crazier during the playoffs.
The big question in this series is who will be better; Ilya Bryzgalov or Detroit’s Swedish scorers?
Prediction: Detroit in 7

FanXchange's Eastern Conference Playoff Preview and Predictions
The Playoffs have begun and are filled with a number of exciting matchups! FanXchange.com is your source to not only attend these much anticipated games, but to give insight on what makes each and every 1st round matchup attractive to the viewer. There are three Canadian teams in action and we hope that you will show your support by checking out your Hometown Team Live!
Let us begin in Washington where The #1 Capitals faceoff vs. The #8 Montreal Canadiens.
The Capitals have had much success during the regular season, having won the President’s trophy. The team looks to take this success and go straight for the cup! The team’s playoff logo is “26 Guys, 1 Team, 1 Goal!” That goal being the Stanley Cup. While in past years the Caps have lacked playoff success, they are looking to end it this year beginning against Montreal.
The Canadiens come into this series as an 8 seed which does not bring them much hope, however given that the Canadiens have an NHL leading 24 Stanley Cups they look to continue their success in the playoffs by fighting hard to upset the Caps.
The flashy Caps offence may be too much for the Canadiens. The team lives and dies through Ovechkin and Semin, among others. If Montreal can shut the duo down, they will have a great chance of moving on. In our own opinion, the duo will just be too much for Montreal and leave the Canadiens golfing in May.
The tickets for these games are selling quickly, as much like Montreal, Washington has packed the house at the Verizon Center. The atmosphere in both venues will be electric!
Prediction: Caps in 5
#2 New Jersey Devils vs. #7 Philadelphia Flyers
This series is intriguing not only because the two cities are in such close proximity to one another, but because of the goaltending matchup. It is simply one of experience in Martin Brodeur against Brian Boucher who has literally no experience. Playoff hockey is all about good goaltending, so if New Jersey is going to have any success they will need Brodeur to utilize his experience in taking the team to the promised land.
The Devils are a defensive minded team, while the Flyers bring a powerful scoring attack, especially on the power play. The Flyers were very successful against Jersey this year having posted a 5-1 record in head to head matchups. The biggest question will be if Ilya Kovalchuk can show up in these playoffs after being traded to New Jersey near the trade deadline to enhance their scoring touch during their playoff drive. Brodeur will also be looking to become only the second goalie to record 100 career wins in the NHL Playoffs.
This series will continue a great rivalry of nearby cities. Why not check out a home game at each venue if you live in the area?
Prediction: Devils in 7
#3 Buffalo Sabres vs. #6 Boston Bruins
To all my fellow Leaf fans, I hate to say it but another season without the playoffs may mean we should look to other markets to catch some playoff action. Why not make the cross border trip to Buffalo and enjoy some playoff hockey. We have your tickets, and playoff hockey as we know from past years is an experience like no other!
Anyways, back to business. Ryan Miller not only led the Americans to a silver medal, but backstopped his Sabres squad to a third place finish in the Eastern Conference. He is the one goalie in the NHL who if he gets hot, I would not want to face. Is it going to be “MILLER TIME”?
Tuuka hopes to bring a Rask of hope for the Bruins in net. This former Leaf draft pick has had an amazing year in Boston and hopes to gain success in his first NHL Playoffs. He will need to be very good in net, as the Bruins lack a scoring touch. Both teams tend to be defensive minded, but the play will dictate who has the hotter goalie.
Prediction: Sabres in 6
#4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #5 Ottawa Senators
These two teams are becoming heated rivals, having faced off against one another in 3of the past 4 years. It will all come down to if Ottawa’s young defensemen can contain the two headed monster of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. To us, that is very unlikely, however the Sens did not get this far without some great scoring of their own. It should be a high scoring series that will be very exciting for all. To all Ottawa residents: Support your team and just remember you can also support Mr. Gold (Sidney Crosby) who helped the Canadian Olympic team score a Gold just a few months ago.
Prediction: Pittsburgh in 6
